Out of Programme Experience
Emergency Medicine Trainees in Wales are actively encouraged to either dual accredit in another Sub-Specialty or take an Out of Programme Experience (OOPE). These are usually for a maximum of a year and offer an opportunity to take time out of training to develop new skills or interests and broaden your overall experience of Emergency Medicine and allied specialities. In recent years >50% of EM trainees in Wales have taken an OOPE or the Dual accreditation option.
These have included time with:
- Sydney HEMS
- Careflight NSW
- London / KSS HEMS
- Critical Care in South Wales
- Trauma rotation @ Royal London
- Trauma Rotation @ The Alfred in Melbourne
If you are a Wales trainee then and you are planning on OOPE then you need to let the training committee know ASAP so that we an plan it into your rotation. Please get in touch with us ASAP!
